Passenger Loss in the Middle East
The attacks by Israel on Gaza and the tensions in the Middle East negatively affected THY’s passenger numbers in this region. The company suspended flights to Israel and made schedule changes to flights to Beirut and Iran. In July of last year, THY carried 892,079 passengers, while this year, during the same period, it served 704,893 passengers, marking a 21% decrease.
Increase in Central and South America
In July 2024, THY recorded an 18% increase in the number of passengers on flights to Central and South America. The breakdown by continent shows that 2,562,910 passengers were carried on European flights, 707,534 on Far East flights, 404,854 on North American flights, 375,716 on African flights, and 100,100 on Central and South American flights.
High International Load Factor
In July 2024, THY carried 7,975,987 passengers on international flights, with an international load factor recorded at 84.7%.
