While reactions continue to the access restriction imposed on Instagram in Turkey, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Ersoy made a statement.

Speaking on Habertürk TV's program 'What Is It? What Is It Not?' where he was a guest, Ersoy answered questions from host Mehmet Akif Ersoy about current issues.

Regarding the access ban on Instagram, Ersoy said:

'This is a matter being followed by our Ministry of Transport. I hope it will be resolved soon through mutual understanding and a cooperative approach from both sides. We have diversified everything in our promotional efforts. Not all of our promotion is on Instagram. Only a very small part is on Instagram. We also use national channels, various forms of social media, including YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and the written press, as well as all areas of digital media. We are now carrying out very broad and varied promotional activities for Turkey.'

STATEMENT ON TOURISM FIGURES

Providing information on tourism figures from previous years and this year, accompanied by graphics, Ersoy stated, 'For the last 6 years, as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, we have achieved all the targets we set, and hopefully, we will continue to achieve them. We are a ministry that doesn't like to rely on excuses. We are persistent in the targets we set.'

Ersoy claimed that visits to Turkey increased rapidly after Covid-19 and that Turkey was the fastest recovering country in terms of tourism after the pandemic, adding that 'they expect the annual number of tourists to reach 60 million by the end of this year.'
