Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz said that the new terminal of Ercan Airport in Nicosia, the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), will open on 20 July.

Vice President Yılmaz made his first official abroad visit to the TRNC. Yılmaz was welcomed by TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Turkey's Ambassador to Nicosia Metin Feyzioğlu and officials. Yılmaz, who landed at Ercan Airport, was greeted with drums, zurna and flowers. Cevdet Yılmaz, who thanked for the welcoming ceremony, said, "I had come to the TRNC on various occasions before. I first came here as part of a technical training program while working as an expert at the State Planning Organization. Here we had worked with our friends at the State Planning Organization. Since then, I have been here on various occasions as a minister and as a member of parliament. I would like to express my great pleasure to be here this time as the Vice President and as the Vice President responsible for Cyprus-related relations."

'OUR MOST IMPORTANT BUSINESS IS ERCAN AIRPORT'

Stating that they will make many contacts and meetings, Yılmaz said, "The most important and most qualified of these is Ercan Airport. When our President came, you know that this project should be completed and he stated very clearly that he wanted to land at this airport on 20 July. We will soon examine the new terminal building together. We're going to have some technical meetings. We will be visiting from tomorrow morning. I also want to express this. We call it the 'Century of Türkiye'. We call it 'the first cabinet of the Turkish Century'. The first protocol signed by our President was the protocol of economic and financial cooperation between Turkey and Cyprus. I wish him good luck too. This is a very clear indication of our President's love for the TRNC and the Turkish Cypriot people."
