Kavaloğlu, emphasizing the need to diversify tourism to avoid seasonal limitations in the Mediterranean region, highlighted the emerging prominence of wellness tourism.

Trillion Dollar Market

Kavaloğlu noted that the global 'wellness' tourism market is expected to generate nearly 1 trillion dollars in revenue this year, and Turkey has a strong infrastructure to secure a share of this market.

He explained, "The concept of wellness can sometimes be confused with health tourism. Wellness encompasses 'well-being,' which includes health. Wellness tourists make up 8% of total tourism trips worldwide and account for 17.8% of the revenue. A wellness tourist spends an average of 1,800 dollars."
