Muğla Governor Orhan Tavlı, who visited the anti-city in Yaka Mahallesi, one of the oldest settlements of the Lycian civilization, gave information about the studies from Prof. Dr. Taner Korkut, Professor of Archeology, Faculty of Letters, Akdeniz University, Head of the Ancient City of Tlos Excavation.
Korkut explained that the scientific data obtained as a result of the studies in the region shed light not only on the Lycian region but also on the history of Anatolia.
Indicating that Tlos, where sports and art are blended, has a settlement history of 14 thousand years, Korkut pointed out the importance of the data obtained from the excavations in terms of tourism as well as its scientific meaning.
Korkut explained that excavations were carried out in the rock tombs in the acropolis, the parliament building and the stadium area, adding that they strengthened the stage building of the ancient theater that drew the eastern border of the city.
During the visit, Tavlı was accompanied by Seydikemer District Governor Yıldız Büyüker and Seydikemer Mayor Bayram Önder Akdenizli.
