In the 13th century, Hacı Bektaş Veli, who came from Horasan and had a significant influence on the spread of Turks to Anatolia, ensuring the coexistence and unity of people of different religions during the Seljuk period, and whose complex in the district of Hacıbektaş in Nevşehir trained many scholars, attracted significant attention from visitors in 2023.
The Hacı Bektaş Veli Museum, one of Turkey's most important centers for faith tourism, was visited by 1,196,240 people in 2023.
At the Hacı Bektaş Veli Complex, which has been on the UNESCO World Heritage Temporary List since 2012, there is a long line to drink water from the Aslanlı Çeşme, considered 'sacred', while visitors tour the museum, soup kitchen, and the 'pir evi' within the complex.
Inside the museum, visitors enter the area where the tomb of Hacı Bektaş Veli is located by kissing the doors as a sign of respect and offer prayers there.
