Lufthansa places a $9 billion order

The German airline company Lufthansa has announced plans to modernize its fleet with a $9 billion order for short and medium-haul aircraft.

German airline company Lufthansa has announced plans to modernize its fleet with a $9 billion order for short and medium-haul aircraft.

According to the company's statement, Lufthansa has signed an agreement with Boeing for 100 Boeing 737-8 Max aircraft (40 firm orders and 60 purchase rights).

As part of the deal with Airbus, the company will purchase 60 Airbus A220-300s aircraft (40 firm orders and 20 purchase rights).

Additionally, Lufthansa has provided an option to purchase 40 aircraft from the A320 series for its new subsidiary, City Airlines.

Based on manufacturers' list prices, Lufthansa's order for 80 aircraft is valued at approximately $9 billion.

The delivery of the aircraft is planned between 2026 and 2032.
