Sabiha Gökçen Airport breaks passenger record

At Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (İSG), a total of 729 flights were made yesterday, while 123 thousand 40 passengers made their journeys.

According to the statement made by the company, the heavy travel traffic observed all over Turkey has turned into a record for OHS due to the closure of schools and the extension of the Eid holiday to 9 days.

Yesterday, 729 flights were made in OHS and 123,40 passengers made their journeys. In terms of intensity experienced in one day, this number became a new record for OHS.

Having set a record in the number of daily passengers on June 25, İSG also broke the international lines record with 196 arriving (34 thousand 210 arriving passengers) and 210 departing flights (34 thousand 450 departing passengers) with 406 flights and 68 thousand 660 passengers.

OHS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Berk Albayrak, whose views are included in the statement, stated that aviation is one of the sectors most affected by the epidemic, and said, "There is an extra intensity at the airports as life returns to normal and the postponed travel plans resume with a much higher demand. While the city's Airport Sabiha Gökçen was also busy with the impact of the holidays, we broke a historical record in flight and passenger numbers yesterday."

Albayrak stated that they expect these numbers to increase further due to the combination of the Eid holiday and the return of pilgrimage.

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, which has routes connecting 154 destinations in 51 countries, reached 14 million passengers in the first 5 months of 2023.

As of June, the British airline British Airways and London Heathrow, Rhodes and Lesbos in Greece, Amman in Jordan and Kazan in Russia, the airport has added 5 new international routes, providing transportation to 51 countries with 45 airlines.
