SunExpress, a joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, organized the panel titled 'Turkey Tourism: Much More Than Sea, Sand, and Sun' at the world's largest tourism fair, ITB Berlin.
The panel hosted by SunExpress received significant attention from numerous visitors, ranging from tour operators to airlines, hotels, and tourism professionals. During the panel, SunExpress CEO Max Kownatzki, TUI Germany CEO Stefan Baumert, and Berlin Brandenburg Airport CEO Aletta von Massenbach shared their insights on the tourism and travel industry.
SunExpress CEO Max Kownatzki stated, 'The fact that our bookings for the upcoming summer season are 23% higher compared to last year indicates a strong desire and demand for traveling to Turkey. Turkey offers much more than just sea, sand, and sun. Together with all stakeholders, we emphasize that Turkey is an ideal and versatile destination throughout the year with its rich history and culture, unique flavors, and sports and activities suitable for every season. As ambassadors of Turkish tourism, we are increasing our capacity for the summer to meet the strong demand and investing in winter as well.'
TUI Germany CEO Stefan Baumert remarked, 'The demand for travel to Turkey continues to increase significantly. This year, we aim to exceed our target of 1 million visitors from Germany. To achieve this, we are expanding our flight options with SunExpress. Our close partnerships with hoteliers in Turkey will allow us to offer new and even higher-quality accommodation options in the best beach locations this summer. Guests have high expectations for their summer holidays, so close collaboration between tour operators, airlines, and hotels is crucial. We are particularly excited about our new TUI Magic Life Beldibi hotel in Antalya, Kemer.'
Berlin Brandenburg Airport CEO Aletta von Massenbach stated, 'Turkey is one of the most popular destinations for Berlin residents. Therefore, we are delighted with the strong collaboration we have established with SunExpress. SunExpress is expanding its capacity and frequency with weekly 56 connections and new destinations for the summer flight program for Berlin, indicating its importance to Berlin Brandenburg Airport and the capital region. With SunExpress offering direct flights from Berlin to 10 cities in Turkey this summer, passengers will have more frequent and non-stop access to their desired destinations.'
