Governor Hulusi Şahin, who evaluated Antalya's tourism targets for the year 2024, stated, "I believe we will easily reach the target of 60 billion dollars in tourism in 2024. Our target for 2028 is 100 billion dollars. We are aware that Antalya is the apple of Turkey's and the world's eye. That's why we are working hard. We will walk together towards Turkey's big goals and we will succeed."
Governor Hulusi Şahin, along with representatives from the sector, including Muratpaşa District Governor Orhan Burhan, Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Dr. Candemir Zoroğlu, President of AKTOB Kaan Kavaloğlu, President of ATSO Ali Bahar, and representatives of NGOs and tourism, came together at the Traditional February Meeting of the Mediterranean Touristic Hoteliers and Operators Association (AKTOB) to discuss the tourism plans, current situation, and goals for 2024.
In his assessment during the meeting, Governor Hulusi Şahin mentioned that the airport expansion project is ongoing. He noted that Antalya Airport completed the year 2023 with 37 million passengers, which exceeded the current capacity significantly. Şahin said, "With the completion of the expansion project, Antalya Airport will reach a capacity of 82 million passengers. Thus, there will be a significant relief at the airport by the beginning of 2025. Quality transportation will be provided by improving connections and tourist roads starting from the airport. Our initiatives between the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism are ongoing for this purpose."
Regarding Antalya's tourism targets for the year 2024, Governor Hulusi Şahin also said, "I believe we will easily reach the target of 60 billion dollars in tourism in 2024. Our target for 2028 is 100 billion dollars. I believe that with your dynamism, we will reach these figures. We are aware that Antalya is the apple of Turkey's and the world's eye. Following the speeches, Ergün Güvenç, a significant figure in the development of Turkish tourism, presented Governor Şahin with a book as a gift.
