The harvest of saffron, which is identified with the Safranbolu district of Karabük, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and called "the most expensive spice in the world", will be held together with the "7th Saffron Festival". Before the festival, which will be held in the district between 13-15 October, with activities such as panels, presentations, exhibitions, concerts, saffron production areas tours and saffron harvest; An introductory meeting was held with the participation of Safranbolu District Governor Şaban Arda Yazıcı, Safranbolu Mayor Elif Köse, Safranbolu Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen, Safranbolu Culture and Tourism Foundation, Safranbolu Tourism Operators Association.
Safranbolu Mayor Köse stated that the festival will start with a cortege march on October 13. Stating that Safranbolu has been involved in tourism with its mansions for many years and that saffron has been neglected to be highlighted, Köse noted that saffron is a very valuable plant for Safranbolu and the country. Stating that festivals are also important in terms of promotion, Köse said, "We had the Golden Saffron Documentary Film Festival, which has been going on uninterruptedly for many years, and the second is the Saffron Festival. It started as a festival and now it has started to move towards a festival format, increasing in content every year. I hope that our Saffron Festival and this period will be beneficial for Safranbolu. "I hope that the festival will bring maximum benefit in terms of promoting the district." Safranbolu District Governor Yazıcı also stated that Safranbolu is one of the leading tourism centers of both the world and Turkey.
Stating that the historical district hosts guests from 103 countries, Yazıcı said, "It is taking firm steps towards our target of hosting 1.5 million tourists annually. The guests we invite to our district from home and abroad to see these beauties will enjoy not only the activities prepared for the saffron festival, one of the most special and expensive plants in the world, but also this city, which is one of the 20 most special cities in the world, whose streets smell of history.
