With the "blue flag" given to Ereğli Kumyalı Beach in Kocaeli's Karamürsel district, the number of beaches with this feature increased to 9 in the city.
According to the statement made by the Metropolitan Municipality, the blue flag, the world's most distinguished tourism and environment award, will be on 9 different beaches in Kocaeli this summer.
The International Environmental Education Foundation, headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, announced the 2023 Blue Flag awards. As a result of the works carried out by the Metropolitan Municipality, the jury delegation awarded another beach of the city the "blue flag" award.
Accordingly, a "blue flag" will be hung on Ereğli Kumyalı Beach with the environmentalist works implemented.
Meanwhile, Karamürsel Altınkemer Beach, whose blue flag was suspended due to mucilage in the Sea of Marmara, regained its title by receiving a "pass" in the investigations after this problem was resolved.
Kerpe, Cebeci, Kumcagiz, Bağırganlı, Kovanağzı, Seyrek and Miço Bays in Kocaeli are also among the blue flag beaches.
