The heavy rain in Erzincan turned into a flood in the town of Çağlayan. The floodwaters inundated restaurants and numerous detached houses in the tourist town.

In Erzincan, where the Meteorological Department issued a heavy rain warning, the hail-mixed rain in the evening negatively affected life. The heavy rain turned into a flood in the town of Çağlayan, which is located 26 kilometers from Erzincan city center and is home to Girlevik Waterfall. The floodwaters caused significant damage in Erzincan's most popular tourist town. Floodwaters overflowing from the riverbed hit the restaurants. Efforts to drain the water from the flooded businesses are ongoing.

The floodwaters also affected cultivated lands and detached houses. Provincial Special Administration, municipal, AFAD, fire brigade, and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the town of Çağlayan.

Erzincan Governor Hamza Aydoğdu, Deputy Governor / Provincial Special Administration Secretary General Mehmet Emre Canpolat, visited the town of Çağlayan to offer their condolences to the citizens and inspect the work on-site. While intermittent heavy rain continued in the town, risky areas were evacuated with warnings from the gendarmerie using megaphones.
