Business owners have stated that hotels will be fully booked before the semester break, set to begin on Friday. In Uludağ, where the snow depth is measured at 45 centimeters, a 20-centimeter snowfall is expected over the weekend.
Despite the late start of the season in Uludağ, one of the key centers for winter tourism, the ongoing snowfall for the past two days has brought the snow depth on the slopes to 45 centimeters. Seizing the opportunity presented by the snowfall, thousands of local and foreign tourists have flocked to Uludağ. Holidaymakers, wearing their skiing gear, have rushed to the slopes, enjoying the falling snow through skiing and snowboarding.
Meanwhile, due to the intense crowd and traffic in Uludağ, gendarmerie teams have taken extensive security measures to prevent potential accidents. Additionally, with the influx of foreign tourists to Uludağ, hotel occupancy rates have surpassed 50%. It is anticipated that hotels will be fully booked during the semester break.
In Uludağ, the temperature is measured at a minimum of 1 degree below zero, while the maximum is recorded at 9 degrees below zero. Moreover, snowfall is expected to continue in Uludağ until the next week. It is emphasized that the precipitation, especially on Saturday, will leave more than 20 centimeters of snow.
Ebru Akkuş, who came to Uludağ for vacation from Germany, said, "We live in Germany. When we heard that it snowed in Uludağ two days ago, we immediately bought our tickets and came to Uludağ for vacation. We have been to Uludağ before; we try to come every year. There is a crowd on the slopes, and now I'm going to start skiing."
Selim Adıyaman, a ski instructor and business owner in Uludağ, stated, "There is very nice snow in Uludağ. Tourists from both local and European regions are coming to Uludağ intensively. As of this week, it might be very difficult to find a place in hotels because there is a very high demand. The current occupancy rate in hotels has reached 50%. Everything is ready to learn or enjoy skiing – the snow depth and weather conditions are good, and we are welcoming all holidaymakers.
