The government, in its newly published visa and immigration regulations, has introduced visa exemptions for 79 countries, including countries such as Russia, China, the United Kingdom, and France. Among the countries granted visa exemptions are African countries such as Gambia and Sierra Leone, neighboring Malawi.
Malawi's Minister of Tourism, Vera Kamtukule, stated that the decision aimed to support tourism and trade, conveying the message that Malawi is a country open to business and investment opportunities worldwide.
In recent years, several countries on the continent, such as Seychelles, Gambia, Benin, Rwanda, and Kenya, have decided to waive visas for Africans or for all countries.
