Visiting New Zealand will become more expensive, as the country is increasing the fee that foreign tourists must pay to enter from October 1. The fee will rise from 35 New Zealand dollars (22 USD) to 100 New Zealand dollars (62 USD).

New Zealand's Minister of Hospitality and Tourism, Matt Doocey, has highlighted that tourism imposes costs on local governments, including increased pressure on regional infrastructure and higher maintenance and repair costs in conservation areas. The International Visitor Levy (IVL), introduced in 2019, aims to help cover environmental protection costs. According to CNN, foreign tourists spent over $11 billion in New Zealand between March 2023 and March 2024. Additionally, starting October 1, tourist visa fees will increase from $131 to $211.
