Volkan Kantarcı, Chairman of TÜRSAB Eastern Black Sea Region Representation Board, stated that especially Arab tourists have shown great interest in the Eastern Black Sea region in recent years, and noted that tourism destinations in the region are increasing. Reminding that the Eastern Black Sea Region stands out not only with its natural beauties but also with its historical values, Kantarcı drew attention to the restoration works carried out on the ruins in recent years. Expressing that they hope that the restoration works carried out in historical areas in the region as well as Sümela will increase the number of visitors this season, Kantarcı said, “The preferred destinations of Arab tourists to our region are increasing day by day. In recent years, they visit destinations they visited less frequently in the past. For example, when we looked at Giresun Kuzalan Waterfall, Blue Lake compared to before the pandemic, the number of visitors was very few. With the landscaping, the interest in these places is increasing. We have very beautiful historical values in Gümüşhane. Limni Lake, Karaca Cave, Torul Observation Terrace, Tomara Waterfall were in the foreground. With the recent restoration work, the Imera Monastery and certain churches in the Krom Valley come to the fore. The works in the ancient city of Satala in Gümüşhane and the restoration process of Bayburt Castle have been completed, making a serious contribution to our region.”

The Eastern Black Sea Region stands out not only with its nature but also with its history

Stating that the Eastern Black Sea Region stands out not only with its greenery but also with its historical ruins, Kantarcı said, “The Eastern Black Sea Region stands out with its historical structures rather than its greenery, waterfalls, streams, lakes, mountains and plateaus. Thanks to the restoration works carried out in historical places, the preference for these places is increasing. Therefore, natural beauties and historical buildings increase the attractiveness of the region. Again in our region, the plateaus in the Kaçkar Mountains in the Fırtına Valley came to the fore. In this sense, sharing on social media makes these places more recognizable. Depending on the number of travel agencies in the region, promotional activities are increasing. Boutique tours to Artvin used to be only in the summer months, but now they started to get active as of May. There will definitely be an increase in the number of foreign markets this season. Whether it is DHMI civil aviation flight planning or travel agencies, this intensity is evident in the pre-bookings they have already made.”
