In Trabzon, which has the richest historical and natural beauties in terms of tourism destinations in the Eastern Black Sea Region, the interest of Arab visitors as well as citizens of different countries continues. While there are direct international flights to Trabzon Airport from 12 countries per day, these countries mainly include the Gulf Countries. While there were direct flights to Trabzon from Israel and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as well as the Gulf Countries, the Qatar Airways plane made the first flight of the season between Doha and Trabzon on 16 June. While those coming from the Gulf Countries especially preferred the plateaus, a total of 960 thousand people, both domestic and foreign, visited Trabzon last year. While approximately 470 thousand of the visitors were foreign tourists, the majority of this number consisted of tourists from the Gulf countries. While 120 thousand people, both domestic and foreign, have come to Trabzon since the beginning of this year, approximately 45 thousand of this figure was composed of foreign tourists, mainly from the Gulf Countries.
"We expect an increase of 30 percent compared to last year"
Trabzon Culture and Tourism Director Tamer Erdoğan stated that they expect an increase of 30 percent in the number of visitors coming to Trabzon this year compared to last year and said, “Currently, there are direct flights from 12 countries to Trabzon. Finally, Qatar was added to these countries. Hopefully, we expect a 30 percent increase in the 2023 season compared to the 2022 season. Trabzon will host its guests in the best way with its natural and cultural tourism. There are direct flights from Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as Israel and the TRNC. In addition to these, guests are coming to our city with connecting flights from Istanbul.”
