During the joint press conference held during President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Athens, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced that Turkish citizens visiting Greek islands would be granted a 7-day visa exemption throughout the year.
Firuz Bağlıkaya, President of TÜRSAB, made the following remarks to an AA reporter regarding the matter:
"The number of visitors from Turkey to Greece reached its highest level, reaching 921,000 people as of 2017. After a decline during the pandemic, there has been a recovery in the number of visitors, rising to 585,000 Turkish citizens visiting Greece. The biggest obstacle to further increasing this number was the visa-related difficulties. Therefore, we believe that the visa facilitation announced during our President's visit to Athens will support tourism movements and be a significant step in increasing the number of visitors to the Greek islands.
