Holiday density expectation in Ayvalık

Ayvalık, which has 22 islands, especially Cunda (Alibey), attracts attention from local tourists with its 17 kilometers long Sarımsaklı Beach, 'Şeytan Sofrası', camping and diving areas, coves, historical stone houses, food and clean air.

Ayvalık, with its 425 accommodation facilities with a capacity of approximately 20 thousand beds, welcomes visitors from the surrounding cities, especially Istanbul, in summer as well as in other seasons of the year.

Accommodation facilities in the district, which will open the season with the holidays in June, have completed their preparations for the Ramadan, which will begin on April 20.

In Ayvalık, which has reached 60 percent in holiday reservations in touristic hotels and hostels, it is expected to reach full occupancy in many businesses until the eve.

'A long awaited vacation'

Ayvalık Tourism Development and Infrastructure Service Union Secretary General and Ayvalık Tourism Association President Ümit Özgültekin said that they will start the tourism season with hopeful expectations after an economically tiring winter. Stating that preparations for the summer are continuing rapidly, Özgültekin said, "We have a four-day Ramadan holiday ahead of us. This is a holiday we have been waiting for for a long time. It will be a new energy for us before the opening of our season."

"Our guests can reach Ayvalık from Istanbul and Edirne in an average of 3 hours"

Özgültekin stated that they believe this holiday to be very beneficial for the Northern Aegean and Ayvalık, and they can see this when they look at the reservation and other data. Expressing that the good weather conditions also give them hope, Özgültekin said: "Ayvalık has advantages compared to many tourism centers in terms of accessibility. Arrivals over Çanakkale are more comfortable thanks to our newly built bridges and tunnels. Now our guests can reach Ayvalık from Istanbul and Edirne in an average of 3 hours. They have a chance to come back from Friday and spend the weekend here. Thus, they can reach our region without getting stuck in any traffic jam. Thanks to Koca Seyit Airport, there are also opportunities to come and go by plane. That's why we, tourism professionals, believe that Ramadan will be busy this year. Currently, our holiday reservations have reached the level of 60 percent. We think that we will approach 100 percent occupancy rate by the 20th of the month before the holiday."

Activity has started with the school holiday

Ayvalık Mayor Mesut Ergin stated that there will be intense activity in the district during the holiday. Emphasizing that one of the factors in this is Ayvalık's ease of transportation to Istanbul, Ergin said, "We can clearly see the advantage of this situation with the activity that occurs in our district on weekends. This situation has turned into an opportunity for Ayvalık." Ergin stated that the activity started before the holiday, with the schools taking a break. Explaining that some visitors have extended their holiday by combining the Ramadan with the school holiday, Ergin said, "I can say that the Ramadan will be much more active in Ayvalık than in other regions. When we look at the current hotel reservations, the occupancy rates clearly show this. Hopefully, Ramadan will be fruitful for Ayvalık."
