Intense Interest in the New Samsun Museum: 50,000 Visitors in 1 Month

Inspired by the waves of the Black Sea in its architecture, the New Samsun Museum, one of the rare museums in the world, was visited by 50,000 people in one month. Citizens stated that the interior of the new museum was beautifully designed and found the museum very informative.

Opened by the Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy on March 13, the museum became the center of attention for visitors. Especially during the Ramadan Bayram holiday, citizens from many cities in Turkey visited the museum to examine the exhibited artifacts with great interest. The museum, which includes artifacts such as the Amisos Treasure, shown as the second most valuable treasure in Turkey after the Karun Treasure, and a skull with traces of brain surgery dating back 5,000 years, attracted the attention of people of all ages.

Citizens expressed that they spent the holiday with their children at the museum, and among the exhibited artifacts, jewelry, belts, and other tools from the Bronze, Hittite, Hellenistic, and Roman periods, especially the Amisos Treasures and items found in excavations, were among the most captivating.

From 20,000 visitors in 1 year to 50,000 visitors in 1 month While the Samsun Archaeology and Ethnography Museum, closed in 2016, was visited by 20,000 people in a year, the New Samsun Museum was visited by 50,000 visitors in just 1 month, and approximately 15,000 people during the holiday period.
