Isabey: The emerging destination for alternative tourism

Following Cumalıkızık and Zeyniler, Yıldırım Municipality is making intensive efforts to turn Isabey into one of the tourism routes in the district.

Yıldırım Municipality is working to revitalize the historical Isabey neighborhood, which boasts rare examples of Ottoman civilian architecture, aiming to make it one of the alternative tourism spots in the region. By restoring the building that is a rare example of authentic Bursa residential architecture and offering it as a service under the name Esebey Women's Agricultural Development Cooperative, Yıldırım Municipality has restored and added to the district a mosque built by the local residents using communal effort a century ago. As part of the ongoing facade reinforcement efforts, renovations are being carried out in 85 buildings, 27 of which are examples of civilian architecture. In the next phase of the project, the area will gain a media center, a local products market, and urban furniture.

Members of the Esebey Women's Agricultural Development Cooperative, working with the support of Yıldırım Municipality, produce more than 20 products using vegetables and fruits grown in their own fields. These products are not only presented to visitors at the Local Flavors Mansion but also sent to many places across Turkey.

Yıldırım Mayor Oktay Yılmaz, emphasizing that each region and neighborhood of Yıldırım has its unique characteristics, states, "Isabey Mahallesi stands out with its historical and cultural heritage as well as agricultural production. Taking these into consideration, we have prepared projects to develop this region. While restoring the historical structures of the area, we have also taken steps to support agricultural production. We have communicated our vision and how we envision Isabey to the residents of the area. With their support and acceptance, we have made significant progress. The interest of our fellow citizens in the region has increased, and we aim to further enhance it. By developing Isabey through its historical, cultural riches, and agricultural production, we will soon make it one of the significant alternative tourism routes, similar to Cumalıkızık and Zeyniler.
