Istanbul-Malabo flights will start soon

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that flights between Istanbul and the city of Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea, will start as soon as possible.

Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, received Honorato Evita Oma, Minister of Transport, Post, New Information and Communication Technologies of Equatorial Guinea and the accompanying delegation at his office. During the meeting, which was closed to the press, it was stated that cooperation between the two countries in the fields of transportation and trade was discussed.

Minister Uraloğlu, regarding Turkey's investments in African countries, said, "Investments were made with the principle of mutual gain in order to increase the trade volume with the continental countries within the framework of Turkey's African vision. Relationships built by public institutions, non-governmental organizations and the private sector have contributed to peace, stability and economic development across the continent. While the total trade volume of Turkey in the African continent was 1.35 billion dollars in 2003, it increased to 40.7 billion dollars in 2022. By the end of 2023, our target is 50 billion dollars. The development of economic and commercial relations is of great importance to us. In terms of maritime, it is very important to develop maritime transport, which plays an important role in ensuring exports and imports between the two countries. I would like to express that we are open to negotiations for the signing of a maritime agreement between the two countries.

Stating that the Istanbul-Malabo flights, which were stopped due to the pandemic, will start again with increasing demand, Uraloğlu said, "The domestic legal approval process of the Air Transport Agreement signed between the two countries is progressing smoothly. I hope that the relations between the Equatorial Guinea Post Office and the PTT will be enriched in the future with new cooperations. "
