Mardin, a year-round tourist destination, buzzes with visitors in autumn

While Mardin, which stands out with its historical buildings and is one of the centers of attraction in tourism, is experiencing the last days of summer, the city is experiencing an autumn rush. Stating that tourists who postponed their reservations due to the earthquake were planning to come in the winter, Mardin Tourism and Hoteliers Association President Özgür Azad Güngör said that September, October and November are the busiest months in this season.

Güngör stated that they had a very good time in September and October; "We experienced an earthquake that devastated Turkey in February. Our guests transferred their reservations to September and October and did not cancel them. Mardin has now become a 12-month tourism city. The guest is having a very enjoyable day. One of our biggest goals is to expand Mardin to 12 months. I believe we have achieved this recently. When we see the incoming numbers, we receive requests for reservations, tours and special New Year's Eve programs even in November and December. We are happy that the season spreads over 12 months. We've done a lot of work on this. "Mardin has a wonderful atmosphere in all four seasons."

Stating that Mardin is among the preferred cities according to the survey results, Güngör said, "Even in the latest surveys, 7 out of 10 people want to come to Mardin. Every race and every belief that comes to Mardin finds a piece of itself. They feel that they have a civilization where madrasahs, museums, churches and mosques are side by side and live in brotherhood, and they leave here very satisfied. Our aim is to send our guests off in the best possible way and happily. I ask our future guests to make early reservations because there is no off season or 'cannot go on this date' situation in Mardin anymore. Serious organizations and festivals are organized. "Local and foreign tourists who come have a very nice and enjoyable time."

"Our goal this year is to reach an 80 percent occupancy rate," said Güngör; "When we compare the winter to last year, we had an occupancy rate of 60 percent. We had a 60 percent rate until November, December and January. We want to target a higher rate and bring it to a minimum of 80 percent. Our guests who come here convey to all segments of society that we should experience four seasons. The snow scenery in our castle and the magnificent view of white color in our narrow streets were already an incredible sight. There is a serious demand right now. One of our satisfied tourists reflects the situation to 10 people and naturally attracts attention. It is a city where civilizations meet, where Turks, Kurds, Assyrians and Yazidis live brotherly under one roof. "When our guests share it with different segments of society, they attract the attention of other tourists as well."
