Mardin became the route of cultural tours for the holiday

The intensity experienced in Mardin, which attracts visitors with its natural beauties and gastronomy, as well as historical monuments, made tourism professionals happy.

Historical streets and avenues, Mardin Museum, Kasımiye Madrasa, Deyrulzafaran Monastery, and Dara Ancient City, one of the important cities of ancient Mesopotamia, are among the most visited centers in Mardin.

Özgür Gürgör, President of the Mardin Tourism and Hoteliers Association (MARTOD), told Anadolu Agency that there are approximately 17 thousand beds in newly opened hotels, mansions and guesthouses in Mardin.

Stating that Mardin is a very special city, there is a high demand during the Eid-al-Adha holiday, Gürgör said:

"We have received reservations of up to 90 percent so far. We think that the holiday will pass at 100 percent capacity. We ask our guests who want to come to Mardin to make a reservation early. Because our occupancy rates are increasing day by day. We are happy about that, of course. Mardin is a mystical city that smells of history. "It is a city that bears the fruits of both cultural and religious tourism. According to the surveys, 7 out of 10 people prefer to see Mardin."

Stating that as Mardin tourism professionals, they do not complete all the preparations and want to host the guests in the best possible way, Gürgör said, "In recent years, Mardin has been spending 100 percent occupancy rates, especially on holidays and special days. Serious demands have started to come in the foreign market as well."

"It was a good advantage that the Eid holiday was 9 days"

Mustafa Altun, General Manager of Gülizar Group Grand Mardin Hotel, said that they provide service with 54 rooms in the historical city, and that the occupancy rates during the Eid al-Adha holiday were above their expectations.

Emphasizing that the star of the historical city, which hosts different cultures, shines brighter every year, Altun said, "The 9-day holiday was a good advantage. It was good for our guests to travel comfortably and for the tourism sector. Currently, our occupancy rates have exceeded 80 percent."
