Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said that Turkey gets the most overnight stays and income from Antalya.

Expressing that the elections held in Turkey in 2023 are among the most important elections in the world, Ersoy also said that the results are followed with interest by all the countries of the world. Regarding his continuation of his second term ministry in the new cabinet, Minister Ersoy said:

"Obviously, when we look at our industry, the first 5 years were very difficult. Antalya is a very assertive city in agriculture and is called the capital of tourism. Our country gets the most overnight stays from Antalya. In this 5-year period, disasters have befallen our country. Covid has affected our industry in a very negative way as it has affected the whole world. Just as we were saying we were getting through them, our Antalya faced forest fires. Then the Russia-Ukraine war, the chain of earthquakes and the difficulties of the elections. Although it was a very difficult process, we carried out very successfully. We came out of the difficult process by making many firsts to set an example for the world."

"We succeeded in rising to third place in 2022"

Minister Ersoy pointed out that in the tourism sector, they received 51.5 million visitors and 39 billion dollars in revenue in 2019, and that in 2022, when the pandemic ended, they again received 51.5 million visitors and 46 billion dollars in revenue; "We were 6th in the world in 2019, and we went up to 3rd place in 2022. This shows that other countries do not manage the process as well as we do, even poorly, and on the contrary, we manage it very successfully. Normally you can skip 1 or maximum 2 rows, but we had the chance to jump 3 rows and get to third place.

"Turkey will be the 3rd or 4th country in the world in tourism"
Minister Ersoy stated that in 2023, the targets for the Turkish Century are bigger; "This year we say 60 million visitors, 56 billion dollars revenue. At the end of 2028, we say 90 million visitors and 100 billion dollars revenue. We say that Turkey will be the first 3rd and 4th country in tourism in the world. We will not use any excuses. We will face obstacles, difficulties and surprises, but we will work harder and get stronger."

"Antalya's problem is our problem"
Minister Ersoy said that they will jointly own all the problems of Antalya and that they will not discriminate as the problem of this central administration or the municipality; "We will say that Antalya's problem is our problem. Even though it is not our duty, we will take charge and be responsible. On top of that, we will solve our problems. If necessary, we will take Antalya to the next level by taking the authorities we need from our citizens."
