Muratpaşa Municipality wins 9th consecutive environmental education award

In Antalya, Muratpaşa Municipality has received the 'Best Environmental Education Activities' award from the Turkish Foundation for Environmental Education (TÜRÇEV) for the 9th consecutive time. TÜRÇEV announced the winners of the 'Best Environmental Education Activities' awards, which are given based on the evaluation of environmental education and awareness activities conducted annually within the Blue Flag Program. The jury, consisting of representatives from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Gazi University Faculty of Education, Selçuk University Faculty of Tourism, Başkent University Center for Sustainable Environment Practice and Research, and the Nature Conservation Center, deemed Muratpaşa Municipality worthy of the award for the 9th consecutive time. The awards will be presented to the winners at the award ceremony to be held on March 9th in Ankara as part of TÜRÇEV's 30th Anniversary Celebration. Mayor Ümit Uysal stated that the efforts in the field of environment have evolved beyond being just a social responsibility project, turning into a legitimate defense activity to protect life. Mayor Uysal expressed that they carry out environmental education and awareness activities with this consciousness and seriousness, stating, 'We accept this award on behalf of our neighbors who have a high sensitivity towards the preservation of natural values.'

The award-winning initiatives of Muratpaşa Municipality include the +0.5 Mediterranean's Future Workshop and Environmental Activities, workshop proceedings published free of charge on the climate portal, the climate portal itself, the 'Falezler Bizim Evimiz' (Cliffs are Our Home) Project, underwater cleaning of Kaleiçi Marina, slope cleanings along the Falezler coastline, International Students Sustainable Ecology Camp organized by Akdeniz University, 'Life in the Garden' events, 'Transforming Women' and 'Transforming Stage' events, environmental and recycling education in schools, and technical inspection visits to recycling facilities.
