President Güngör: "The inflation adjustment should be made more flexible"

Seydi Tahsin Güngör, the President of the Manavgat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MATSO), made a statement regarding the inflation adjustment policy. He highlighted that the current application of inflation adjustments negatively impacts the business sector, particularly by adding an extra tax burden to ongoing investments, which could lead to financial difficulties. Güngör emphasized that if companies do not have other sources of income, taxes resulting from inflation accounting should not be imposed on them.

He urged for the tax base in inflation accounting to be adjusted in a way that does not create an additional tax burden and suggested that businesses generating employment and added value should be exempt from this policy. Güngör also stressed that imposing taxes on companies that have made investments but have not yet generated revenue would be unfair, as it could harm these businesses and deter future investments. He called for the inflation adjustment to be postponed and restructured to avoid placing undue financial pressure on companies, especially in sectors like tourism, which are already facing challenges due to rising costs.
