The Blue Flag brought the 'best' award

In Kocaeli, which hosts significant tourism destinations and 9 Blue Flag beaches, the Metropolitan Municipality won the 'Best Environmental Education and Awareness Activities' award in 2023 for its important environmental efforts. The Turkish Foundation for Environmental Education (TÜRÇEV), which conducts activities to raise environmental awareness in society under the Blue Flag Program, held its 30th-anniversary celebration and environmental award ceremony in Ankara. Following evaluations by an international jury of their environmental education activities carried out in 2023, the beaches that were awarded the 'Best Environmental Education and Awareness Activities' under the Blue Flag Program were announced.

The Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality won the 'Best Environmental Education and Awareness Activities' award in the evaluation for the environmental education and awareness activities it conducted in 2023. The Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality managed to receive this award among 551 beaches in the beach category. Thus, the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality has been awarded the same prize for environmental education activities for 3 consecutive years.

In Kocaeli, there are 9 Blue Flag beaches. Within the framework of the Blue Flag Program, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, which has been working since 2012, has ensured sustainability by increasing the number of Blue Flag beaches every year. Kandıra Cebeci, Bağırganlı, Kerpe, Kumcağız, Miço Koyu Kadınlar, Kovanağzı, Seyrek, Karamürsel Altınkemer, and Ereğli Kumyalı public beaches were awarded the Blue Flag for the year 2023. Furthermore, applications for the Blue Flag for these 9 beaches have been submitted for the year 2024 as well. The beaches that have been awarded the Blue Flag will be announced to the public by TÜRÇEV (Foundation for Environmental Education Turkey) in May.
