With the implementation of visa-on-arrival for Greek islands, interest in ferry services from Kuşadası in Aydın to Samos has increased. While there were three weekly trips in April, as May arrived, ferries began operating daily, with travelers reaching Europe in just 45 minutes. The single-entry and 7-day valid visa application for Turkish citizens to Greek islands started last April, costing an average of 100 euros, boosting interest in ferry services to Samos from the touristic district of Kuşadası in the Aegean Region. Previously, trips to Samos were scheduled on certain days of the week, but from May onwards, Tilos Turizm now operates daily, while İDO operates three days a week. Ferries depart between 08:15 and 08:45 in the morning, with prices ranging from 40 to 50 euros. The journey from Kuşadası Port to Samos takes 45 minutes. Turkish citizens intending to visit Samos form long queues in front of the ferries starting from the early hours of the morning.
Regaip Pektaş, the responsible person for the ferry service from Kuşadası to Samos, expressed satisfaction with the increased interest, stating, "The start of visa-on-arrival application has boosted demand. We anticipate a busier June. Of course, the fact that Samos offers holiday opportunities at more affordable prices compared to Turkey has also contributed to reaching this level of demand."
Mustafa Kemal Cesur, who went to Samos with his wife for a holiday, said, "Hotel prices in Turkey are very expensive. Samos, on the other hand, is more affordable. We go to Samos at least twice a month."
Devrim Özgür, who had never seen Samos before, said, "I'm very curious about this island. We'll stay for a few days and then return. There are currently issues with obtaining visas from consulates. Therefore, the visa-on-arrival application provides us with an important opportunity to visit the Greek islands."
Denizhan Sayışman, who chose Samos for their honeymoon, said, "My wife and I live in Kuşadası. Samos is very close to Kuşadası. We've been to Samos a few times before. Getting a one-week visa makes it easy to travel to other Greek islands. The cheaper prices compared to Turkey also create an advantage for us."
