The plan to uplift Hatay is ready

"After the earthquake disaster, ministries, central administrative institutions, and civil society organizations continue their efforts tirelessly to heal the wounds. A project has been launched to help Hatay, one of the cities most affected by the earthquake, rise again. The Turkey Design Foundation, along with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, have rolled up their sleeves to implement the 'Revitalization of Hatay' project. Within the scope of protocols made, a new design and planning process have been prepared for the city.

20 ARCHITECTURE OFFICES COLLABORATED

Mehmet Kalyoncu, a member of the Board of Trustees of TTV, stated that they are determined to set a good example for the future of cities, emphasizing that this good example will emerge from Hatay. Kalyoncu said, 'We wanted to unite the architecture and urban planning community. We, as the Turkey Design Foundation, took on this duty with a sense of volunteerism and responsibility. Bünyamin Derman Hoca could have done this entire project alone, but nearly 20 architecture offices came together and united under the umbrella of the Turkey Design Foundation. We worked with a spirit of solidarity.' Mehmet Kalyoncu pointed out that as part of the project, stream beds were closed to construction and green areas were increased by 2 times. He said, 'This project also serves as a guide for other cities affected by earthquakes and for cities at risk of earthquakes, especially Istanbul. Istanbul should not forget about Hatay, Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, and Malatya. Istanbul needs a plan before experiencing such an earthquake. Our foundation is ready for this task.'

5,000 HOUSES ON 50 HECTARES Furkan Demirci, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TTV, provided the following information about the project: 'We aim to create a vision that will make Hatay resilient, sustainable, and livable for future generations, and to design approximately 5,000 houses on a 50-hectare area.'"
