In Kumbağ, one of Tekirdağ's popular tourism regions, activity has begun shortly before the start of the holiday and summer vacation season. Located 15 kilometers from Süleymanpaşa, Kumbağ is famous for its wide beach and clean sea, attracting not only residents of Tekirdağ but also visitors from neighboring provinces. Visitors to Kumbağ relax on the expansive beach, swim in the sea, and sip tea by the shore.
In addition to public beaches, the region features various tourist facilities, including rest areas and guesthouses. During the summer months, Kumbağ's population swells to 25-30 times its usual size due to the influx of tourists from Istanbul and other surrounding provinces. Known for its proximity to cities like Istanbul, Çanakkale, Kırklareli, and Edirne, Kumbağ offers opportunities for water skiing, windsurfing, trekking, and paragliding.
Visitors can also enjoy fishing, picnicking, and relaxing by the sea with a cup of tea. History of Kumbağ
Kumbağ, a small fishing village on the Marmara coast of the Ganos Mountains, has a long history. Before the Balkan War in 1913, Kumbağ was a Greek fishing village named Kumbos with 600 households. From 1923 onwards, it was settled by immigrants from Greece and Bulgaria, and in 1935, from Romania.
In 1993, Kumbağ gained municipality status, which was later revoked with the new metropolitan law, converting Kumbağ into a neighborhood.

Kumbağ is 15 kilometers from Süleymanpaşa and sits 13 meters above sea level. Its proximity to Istanbul attracts many visitors from the city, as well as international tourists. The summer months are particularly popular with surfers due to favorable winds. Additionally, Tekirdağ köftesi (meatballs) are famous. The distance between Istanbul and Kumbağ is 160 kilometers, taking approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to travel at an average speed of 100 km/h.
