In the district of Almus in Tokat, the process of collecting fish, which will be exported to Russia, Japan, and China, has begun. With a daily shipment of 15 tons, the fish undergo cleaning processes before being exported.
In the Almus district of Tokat, a dam lake is utilized not only for irrigating agricultural lands but also for generating electricity. During the summer months, local residents engage in cage fish farming in the lake, which also contributes to regional tourism. With dozens of facilities around the lake, approximately 6 thousand tons of fish are produced annually. The produced fish are exported to various countries, including Russia, as well as European countries, Japan, and China.
With the cooling of the weather, some fishermen use boats to reach the cages inside the dam, where they place the fish they catch with fisherman's nets into large storage containers filled with ice. The manually collected fish are then pulled to the edge of the dam with boats. The fish placed in the large containers are loaded onto vehicles for transportation with the help of a crane. A group of about 10 people prepares a 15-ton shipment in a day. The transported fish are sent to fish farms by the seaside. When the fish reach approximately 2-3 kilograms in weight, they are exported, contributing to the local economy.
Sadullah Sezer, a 46-year-old salmon farmer in the Almus district of Tokat, states, "We engage in salmon farming in Almus, and we send our products abroad. The processed fish from the processing factory are exported to Russia, China, and Japan. Today, we loaded 15 tons, and hopefully, there will be more to come. Every year, we send around 100 tons of salmon for export.
