While Turkish tourists turn their travel routes to the Balkans after the Covid-19 epidemic, Bulgaria is one of the most preferred countries.
After the Covid-19 outbreak, many people started to create new travel routes. Many tourists have the opportunity to see historical beauties on site with Balkan tours that include visits to Greece, Kosovo and North Macedonia. Although the number of people who come to Bulgaria to learn a new culture and make a historical visit is high, there are also those who want to "see the ancestral land". Many tourists from Turkey also travel to the neighboring country Bulgaria on daily tours. Numerous tour agencies in Istanbul, Çorlu, Tekirdağ and Çanakkale send tourists to Bulgaria by bus almost every week. At the beginning of the tours are the capital Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Nessebar and Burgas.
Those who prefer Bulgaria for winter tourism visit the ski resorts of Bansko and Pamporovo. Bansko and Pamporovo are preparing to welcome the highest number of foreign tourists from Turkey. Although the ski season is interrupted these days when the air temperatures are above the seasonal normals, the interest in Sofia and Plovdiv tours is quite high.
Tourist guide Alexandar stated that Turks showed great interest in the region and said, "Plovdiv has become a preferred place because we are close to the geography and they like the atmosphere here. Old Plovdiv houses reveal the Ottoman architecture of the 18th and 19th centuries. We are in great demand from Turkish tourists. They are satisfied. They admire the pleasure of the atmosphere here," he said.
