Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said, “Every year, the number of visitors visiting our country is increasing, and the income we get is increasing. Per capita income per night is also increasing. The per capita income, which fell to $61-62 in 2017, increased to $90 last year. Hopefully, in the next five-year plan, we aim to increase the per capita nightly income up to 118 dollars. This will naturally be reflected in our tradesmen. Tourists, whose spending per night increases, will also shop from tradesmen.” Minister Ersoy, who came to Antalya for the Eid al-Adha, made the second of his visits to Manavgat. Minister Ersoy, who visited the taxi stand at the entrance of Side Antique City, chatted for a while there. Ersoy, stating that they have 56 billion dollars revenue target in tourism this year, said that Antalya will have the biggest share in this revenue. Providing information about the excavation of the ancient city of Syedra, Minister Ersoy said, "Thanks to the excavation work, we have made a plan to increase the number of visitors 2-3 times every year from next year. Hopefully, the Ancient City of Syedra will become a very important attraction point for Alanya in 4-5 years." Ersoy, about the Cultural Road Festivals they started in 2 cities 4 years ago, said, "This year, we added Antalya to 11 cities. By making these festivals at the end of the season, we have ensured the extension of the season."

"We hope we have a revenue target of $100 billion by 2028"

Our oil is actually tourism. Our goal is too big. Hopefully, we have a revenue target of 100 billion dollars until 2028. We will achieve the result by recording this step by step every year."

“The spread of digital museums across Turkey is another work”
Stating that the Ministry has started to carry out very important works throughout Turkey, Ersoy said, “If we start from Istanbul, the Galata and Maiden's Towers will be restored and opened to visitors. The museums we opened again. Especially the digital museums that we will open next month in Hagia Sophia and next month in the Ancient City of Ephesus. The spread of digital museums throughout Turkey is another work. There is a work that we started 3-4 years ago. For the revival and restoration of the Ancient City of Patara, for it to become a point of attraction again. Since we had a very successful result, we started a similar work last year from Phaselis, Olympos bay and Side Antique City. As the ministry, we are working very hard for the revival and restoration of ancient cities and ruins, especially in the tourism city center. In this way, we enable tourists to go out of the hotels and visit the region until late hours or during the off-season, when the sea, sand and sun are not in the foreground.”

“The number 713 is a record for both Turkey and the world”
Stating that they carried out both excavation and archaeological work at 713 points throughout Turkey last year, Minister Ersoy said, “The number of 713 is a record for both Turkey and the world. No country in the world has the capacity to carry out this number of excavations and archaeological researches in one year. As a country and a ministry, we have reached this capacity. We also carry out such an intensive excavation and archaeological excavation work. Again, thanks to a study we started 4 years ago, we extended the working time of the excavation directorates to the whole year. As you know before, excavations took place around 45-60 days, and then there was a break. It was making very slow progress. Thanks to the work we started 4 years ago, we gradually included all our excavation directorates with 12-month support programs.”
