Producers competed at the Traditional Cherry Festival

Lapseki Mayor Eyüp Yılmaz told reporters that the traditional competition created great excitement in the district. Explaining that the competition was held in two categories, Yılmaz said, "18 of our producers participate in the Agriculture-900 category, and 19 in other varieties. I would like to thank all our producers for participating in the competition. Our jury members will choose the best and most beautiful cherries. When they are finished, Lapseki's best and biggest cherry will be revealed. These cherries are Lapseki's special cherries, they really don't fit in the glass. Our Lapseki farmers and producers produce these cherries. I thank them here." Çanakkale Provincial President Naim Makas stated that Lapseki is the district with the largest middle span bridge in the world and that the world's largest cherries are also grown here. The cherry contest, one of the traditional events of the festival, was held in two categories: "Ziraat-900" and "other". In the competition where a total of 37 producers exhibited their products in both categories, cherries were evaluated by the jury on criteria such as taste, aroma, weight and stem quality. Jury members of the competition; Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMU) Faculty of Agriculture Dean Prof. Dr. Murat Şeker, Lapseki Vocational School (MYO) Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Gıyasettin Çiçek, Associate Dr. Neslihan Ekinci, Dr. Mustafa Sakaldaş, Dr. Lecturer Sefa Polatöz, Lecturer Mustafa Onur Ünal , Neşe Yılmaz, ÇOMÜ Faculty of Agriculture Research Assistant Dr Mehmet Ali Gündoğdu and District Agriculture Director, Agricultural Engineer Ali Kaçan. After the jury's evaluation, Hasan Doğan came first, Ahmet Aksoy second, Ahmet Öncü third, Mehmet Turgut fourth and Mehmet Şen fifth in the Ziraat 900 category. In the other category, İsmail Okutucu placed first, Nagihan Kolkoparan placed second, Samet Şen placed third, Mehmet Oktay placed fourth, and Yasemin Güney placed fifth. As part of the festival activities, Cengiz Kurtoğlu will give a concert in Yeni Kordon tomorrow.

57th International Cherry Festival has started in Tekirdağ

The 57th International Cherry Festival has started in Tekirdağ's Süleymanpaşa district, where approximately 3 million visitors are expected. Organized for the 57th time this year by the Süleymanpaşa Municipality, the International Cherry Festival started in the Naip District, where the festival was first held. Folk dance performances were presented at the festival, where different types of cherries were exhibited. Speaking at the opening, Süleymanpaşa Mayor Cüneyt Yüksel said, "We started our work to organize a festival worthy of Thrace. Last year, we hosted 300 thousand people at the same time on the beach, where the biggest crowd in the history of the Republic was, according to the security data. In total, we hosted 2.5 million guests in our city. Hopefully this year we will host 3 million people with your support.
