AnadoluJet Transforms into AJET

The launch of AJET took place at the Turkish Technic Hangar at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, with the participation of Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, Turkish Airlines Board of Directors and Executive Committee Chairman Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, Turkish Airlines executives, and employees. Established to be a low-cost airline operating at global standards and to strengthen its competitive position in the market, the company will continue its operations centered at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen and Ankara Esenboğa Airports as of the end of March 2024. With a vision for sustainability, the company plans to operate as environmentally friendly, aiming to simplify services in the 'Low Cost' market and reflect the cost advantage obtained through the economy class configuration in ticket prices. This approach is intended to allow a broader audience to benefit from air transportation services. "We are rapidly progressing towards becoming the world's transit hub in the field of aviation," said Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu in his opening speech at the launch. "With its strategically central location in the middle of the continents of Asia, Europe, and Africa, along flight routes between developed and emerging markets, our country is advancing rapidly towards becoming the world's transit hub in aviation. With its advantageous position, just a 4-hour flight away from 1.4 billion people and hosting a trade volume of 8.6 trillion dollars in 67 countries, we are at the heart of the world," he added. Minister Uraloğlu highlighted Turkey's remarkable achievements in aviation, stating, "Since 2002, we have increased our active airport count from 26 to 57 and raised our terminal capacity from 55 million passengers to 337 million 450 thousand passengers. We expanded our flight network to 343 points in 130 countries by adding 283 new destinations, marking a 472% increase in the last 21 years. Moreover, our total aircraft count, which was 489 in 2002, has reached 1,813 with a 270% increase. In 2022, Turkey rose to the third place among European countries and sixth place globally in the total passenger traffic ranking of European and world airports. In terms of passenger traffic in 2022, three of our airports were among the top 20 in Europe and the top 50 globally." Minister Uraloğlu stated, "Our Istanbul Airport is first in Europe and seventh in the world. Since its opening in 2018, Istanbul Airport has hosted more than 177 million passengers. We are also developing Sabiha Gökçen Airport, which hosts us, with an innovative and visionary approach. We have completed the second runway, doubling the operational capacity of the airport. We plan to inaugurate it shortly with the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan." He further mentioned the importance of AJET Aviation Inc., a 100% subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, as a significant step in the continually growing and developing aviation sector. "AnadoluJet, focusing on efficiency to make air transportation accessible to a wide range of passengers, has provided significant services to Turkish civil aviation under the Turkish Airlines brand. Now, as we renew our brand, we aim to contribute even more to our country's tourism and economy in the future vision. We will continue the operations of our AnadoluJet brand under the name 'AJET Aviation Inc.' to strengthen its competitive position as a low-cost airline in the global market. I sincerely believe that in the upcoming period with the new brand, AJET will not only serve a crucial role in domestic flights but also become a significant force in increasing the competitiveness of Turkish carriers in international routes."
