Migratory Storks in Hürmetçi Reeds

Storks, which have become the symbol of the Hürmetçi neighborhood of the Hacılar district of Kayseri, have started to come to the resting places this year as well. Storks that come to our country from the northern regions of Africa continue to attract the attention of domestic and foreign tourists during their long journey in the Hürmetçi Reeds. Located on the European, Asian and African bird migration route and with its large wetland, Hürmetçi Reeds, hosts many bird species such as hoopoe, European bee-eater, whitetail wagtail, kingfisher, sparrow, magpie, flamingo, great egret, gray heron, little swan, song swan, angut, suna, mallard duck, pintail, reed grouse, sedge borer, long legs, little bittern, spoonbill, stork, starling, swallow and crested lark, is also home to many storks from northern Africa. Hacılar Mayor Bilal Özdoğan invited the citizens to the Hürmetçi Reeds, the resting place of storks, which are included in the natural life of the district, as well as many beauties. Özdoğan; “The storks, which take a break in Hürmetçi Reeds during their long migration journey, offer unforgettable beauties again this year. Storks that come to Hürmetçi Reeds from thousands of kilometers away since march, settle in the same nests every year. Storks feed in the wetland of Hürmetçi Reeds and take a break here for a while on their long journeys. Hürmetçi Reeds was defined as an "Internationally Important Wetland" in 2004 due to meeting the Ramsar criteria. It has a global importance on a world scale because it is on the bird migration route to Europe, Asia and Africa. We want all our fellow citizens to see this beauty.”
