Iranian tourists were amazed by Akdamar Island

As part of an informational program organized by tourism agencies in Van, Iranian tour operators visiting Van were impressed by Akdamar Island. The tourism agencies arranged an informational program to alleviate concerns among Iranian agencies due to recent events during the election process. Iranian agency and tour operator representatives were invited to Van for a 3-day information session where they were introduced to the historical beauties of the city. They visited many historical sites including Van Castle, Van Museum, and Akdamar Island, as well as exploring the city center and hotels. Tourism operator Ebubekir Zirek, who made a statement about the info, said, "Especially recently, due to the negative events in Van, there has been a decrease in the number of tourists coming to our province, and we have seen that this market share has shifted to other cities. Within this scope, we held our second info session a week apart. In this info session, we brought agents from all cities of Iran here and re-introduced the historical sites, hotels, and beauties of Van. We conducted such a study to show that there is no incident here and that tourism is going very well." Iranian agency representatives who toured Van for three days expressed their admiration for Akdamar Island, especially mentioning that they were impressed by it the first time they saw it. Iranian agency representatives, who heard the name of Akdamar Island but did not know it was so beautiful, said that necessary efforts would be made for further development of tourism between the two countries."

Iranian tourists made Van tradesmen happy Haber

Iranian tourists made Van tradesmen happy

The intensity of Iranian tourists in Van, which started with Nevruz and still continues, made the tradesmen happy. Iranian tourists who come to Van by taking advantage of every holiday opportunity make a significant contribution to the city's economy. Iranian tourists, who shop during the day and enjoy their holiday in entertainment centers in the evening, also make the shopkeepers happy. The occupancy rate of hotels in Van, which was visited by approximately 500 thousand tourists in the first 9 months of this year, reached 90 percent. Expressing their satisfaction with the visits of Iranian tourists to Van, tourism professionals said that they wanted this to extend over 12 months. Emphasizing that the visit of Iranians is a lifeline especially for tradesmen, Van Union of Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (Van ESOB) President İsa Berge said, “There has been a density of Iranian guests in our city for years. Approximately 11 thousand tourists entered Van through Kapıköy Border Gate 2 days ago. When we look at the occupancy rate of hotels in Van, there is a great tourism activity in Van. In addition, Van has an ongoing tourism potential throughout the region. There is also a great flow of guests from Hakkari, Bitlis, Ağrı and Diyarbakır provinces. Van Lake Basin has become a tourism city that constantly feeds itself and contains tourism potential within itself. Approximately half a million people flock to Van every year. They say the tourism season is over, but the tourism season is not over in Van. Thank God, even now, when we look at our avenues, streets, restaurants, cafes and coastlines, we can see our Iranian guests. In this sense, Van is now ready not only for summer tourism but also for winter tourism. This is what we want from our local people. Our aim is to accommodate our guests by being devoted to them and adopting a good price policy. I believe that our Van people are sensitive in this sense. Our tradesmen and craftsmen have also renewed themselves especially in this sense. When we look at the posters and the writings on the windows, they especially appeal to the guests with writings in Persian, English and Turkish. “We now see ourselves as a city ready for all tourism in Turkey.” Underlining that tourism is a sector that touches all sectors, Berge said, “Tourism touches all sectors from A to Z. It touches the accommodation owner, the marketer, the clothing seller and the greengrocer. Let's embrace our guests with the understanding of guests, not with the understanding of tourists. Especially with the completion of the modernization works at the Kapıköy Border Gate and the opening of the gate, there is a great economic contribution to the city. You cannot find this much potential in any of the surrounding provinces. We owe this to Iran and the Iranian border. Iran is indispensable for us. At this point, I would like to thank the people of Van as well as our tradesmen and craftsmen.” Van tradesmen, on the other hand, stated that Iranian tourists contribute greatly to the city's economy and reiterated that they hope this will spread over 12 months.

10 thousand Iranian tourists spent the Ramadan Feast in Van

Iranian tourists, who take advantage of every holiday opportunity, come to Van and make a serious contribution to Van's economy. Iranian tourists who came to Van taking advantage of the three-day Ramadan Feast, shopped during the day and had fun at the entertainment centers in the evening. The shopkeepers of Van, who are smiling because of the visits of Iranian tourists, are doing all the necessary work to spread this to 12 months. Emphasizing that the three-day Ramadan Feast is important for the shopkeepers of Van, Van Chambers of Artisans Union President Isa Berge said, “We can say that the Ramadan Feast was like a double holiday for Van. Especially our Iranian guests flocked to Van for three days. There was a circulation of about 10 thousand people in one day. Of course, the Kapıköy Border Gate's 24-hour service has added value to our country. Our accommodation facilities and service areas were more intense than we thought. Hopefully, the future processes will continue like this. Van is a city that has achieved its economic volume, offering added value to tourism. Especially when we look at the presence of domestic and foreign tourists, the Van Basin has created the style of the economy as a region. In this sense, we especially request from the local tradesmen, let's show our hospitality to the guests and pay attention to our price policy so that a sustainable economy will be formed from now on." Oktay Aksoy, General Manager of Elite World Van Hotel, stated that the three-day holiday made a positive contribution to the economy of Van and said, “The three-day Ramadan Feast holiday has enabled both hotels and other tradesmen to make significant profits. After a low season, we achieved an economic gain with the three-day holiday and guests from Iran. When we look at the hotels, there was not a serious density in the last three months, but with the month of April and Ramadan Feast, an occupancy rate of 80-90 percent was achieved in all hotels.  Emphasizing that their aim is to ensure that local and foreign tourists come to Van not only during certain periods of the year, but also for 12 months, Aksoy said, "As VANOTED, our aim is to provide good service to both our local and Iranian guests who come to our city and to contribute to Van's tourism in this regard. Our work will be in this direction."
