Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Erciyes A.Ş. hosted the Erciyes International Road Cycling Races. Erciyes, which is the attraction point of professional athletes in many sports branches as a professional training camp, mountain and natural sports base in summer as well as winter sports, continues to attract the attention of the global cycling community. Kayseri Erciyes, which is known as the place that hosts the most bicycle races in the world in the calendar of the International Cyclists Union UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale), whose center is located in Italy, also organizes bicycle races in 2023. Cycling teams from around the world participated Erciyes International Road Cycling Races, which will take place between 8 July and 19 August, are led by the International Cyclists Union UCI and the Turkish Cycling Federation, Erciyes High Altitude and Sports Tourism Association organized with the support of Erciyes A.Ş., Spor A.Ş and Bicycle Tourism Association under the auspices of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality. Cycling teams from all over the world, especially Turkey, participated in the bicycle races. ​The races started with the Grand Prix Erciyes stage on Saturday, July 8th. 35 athletes finished the race at the 140-kilometer-long GP Erciyes tour, starting from Cumhuriyet Square and finishing at the Erciyes Ski Center Hacılar Kapı. Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General and Erciyes A.Ş. Chairman of the Board of Directors Hamdi Elcuman, Kayseri Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Ali İhsan Kabakcı and athletes participated. “We have successfully completed another Grand Prix” Erciyes A.Ş Chairman of the Board Hamdi Elcuman said in a statement at Erciyes Ski Center that they successfully completed the race. Meeting with the winner of the race, Elcuman stated in his speech that 5 races took place in Kayseri and Erciyes this year and said, “We have successfully completed another Grand Prix. Thankfully, we have 5 races in total this year in Erciyes. We carried out the first of our race without incident. Nearly 35 racers from various countries competed here. Thankfully, they all reached the finish.” He congratulated the winner of the competition, Stedman Maximilian, and learned his thoughts. The races with stages, which will be held on 24-27 August 2023, will be started from Erciyes Ski Center. Cyclists will start from Kayseri and turn the pedals to the beauties of Anatolia in Kırşehir, Nevşehir and Kırıkkale provinces. The calendar of the remaining races is as follows: “July 30, 2023 Grand Prix Kültepe. 19 August 2023 Grand Prix Kaisareia (Men). 19 August 2023 Grand Prix Kaisareia (Women). 24-27 August 2023 Tour of Anatolia MTB Cup.”

Kayseri's Cappadocia "SOĞANLI VALLEY" With rock churches, fairy chimneys and rock-carved structures, the Soğanlı Valley in Yeşilhisar has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List together with Cappadocia since 1985. There are deep tuff valleys, fairy chimneys and rock settlements inhabited by humanity in Soğanlı, where interesting landforms were formed as a result of the cooling of the lava erupting from the Erciyes Mountain and Hasan Mountain volcanoes millions of years ago. Nearly 200 churches, including Geyikli, Santa Barbara (Tahtalı), Domed, Saklı, Yılanlı, Karabaş, Tokatlı and Ballık, attract visitors from all over the world in the valley that starts from Akköy Dam Lake. Those who visit Soğanlı Valley are strongly recommended to visit Erdemli village. In Erdemli, which is 10 kilometers away from Yeşilhisar, the One-nave Archaic, St. Nicholas, Forty Martyr, Bear, Mikhael, Twelve Apostles, St. Eustathios and Saray churches and Haralam Monastery are places worth seeing. Kestelic rock settlements just south of Erdemli also offer safari experiences to photography enthusiasts. In the village of Güzelöz, 18 kilometers from Yeşilhisar, which is also within the borders of Soğanlı Valley, the rock churches of Haç, Mistikan, St. Basileus, Ortaköy, St. Georgios, Panagia, St. Stratilates, and St. Barbara constitute the visit stops that tourists should not miss. In the historical region where it started to take off, those who participate in balloon tours have the opportunity to watch the rock structures from the sky. There are three restaurants and two pensions at the entrance of Soğanlı Valley. Cloth dolls reflecting the local culture and souvenirs unique to Kayseri are sold in the ruins.
