Boyabat basalt rocks will be brought to tourism

The Magnificent hexagonal prism-shaped Boyabat Basalt Rocks Natural Monument, which is estimated to be 5 million years old, is shown as one of the rare geological formations in the world. With the development plan prepared for the region, it is aimed to gain more tourism.                                           The hexagonal prism-shaped columnar rocks, which are located in the Kurusaray village region of Sinop's Boyabat district, on an area of 10 hectares and reach 40 meters in height, resemble a bee honeycomb when viewed from above, while when viewed from the opposite, they appear as a pile of blocks with prism bodies lined up side by side. The Boyabat Basalt Cliffs, which fascinate those who see them in their magnificence, were registered as a natural monument in 2011 and are shown among the rare volcanic formations in Turkey and the world. The structure, whose geological formation was researched, belongs to the young period and is about 3 to 5 million years old.                                           "Development plan is being prepared" Noting that a development plan has been prepared to increase the tourism potential in the Basalt Rocks region, Culture and Tourism Provincial Director Metin Süren said, “We are a very important destination for regional tourism and for nature eco tourism. Here, a development plan is being prepared by the 10th Regional Directorate of National Parks. It has become an important destination to be brought to tourism with its observation terrace and walking paths.”
