Governor Aydın Baruş and his wife Nagihan Baruş, Keçiborlu District Governor Tahsin Aksu, Keçiborlu Mayor Yusuf Murat Parlak, Army Aviation School Commander Brigadier General İsa Baydilli, managers of public institutions and organizations and citizens attended the Lavender Festival opening program. The festival started with folk dance and mehteran performances in the lavender gardens with a view of Kuyucak village. Those present at the opening of the festival gave the start of the festival by releasing purple balloons from the lavender garden into the sky. Governor Baruş, who started by stating that Turkey's nature is very suitable for lavender cultivation in the opening speech of the festival, said, “Especially the region we are in is the region where lavender cultivation started and lavender was introduced to Turkey. A significant amount of lavender cultivation is carried out in this region, mainly in our Kuyucak village. According to our current findings, there are 5 thousand 550 decares of lavender cultivation land in Keçiborlu alone. Lavender is not only a flower for us, lavender is also our tourism ambassador. Lavender is an agriculturally important plant. But on the other hand, lavender is a beautiful plant on which bees make delicious honey, we want to spread lavender honey to Turkey from here, we want to introduce it and cheer up the palate.” Former National Volleyball Player Duygu Bal, who came to the festival, stated that she came to the festival with excitement and said, “The positive energy that lavender brings to life here reflects a lot on everyone. We are very happy to come from big cities and to be hosted in this town and to come to the beautiful period of lavender. Lavender has a serious benefit to our good life and health. We plan to bring this place to more masses every year. We are very happy to be here” Turkey's first domestic and national car, TOGG, which was brought to the festival, was greeted with interest by the citizens. After the speeches, Governor Baruş presented the most beautiful lavender garden and awards to the winners of the festival run. Afterwards, popular music and mehteran concerts were held. The opening ceremony of the festival continued with the cortege. The cortege, which started from the lavender garden, ended in the village of Kuyucak. The ongoing festival activities in Kuyucak village continued with the Turkish Folk Music concert. The Lavender Festival will continue with events and concerts on 16-17-18 July.

Instead of telling people 'go here, go there', they can reach the lavender field near them by entering the route themselves.
