You have 3 weeks to see the lavender fields!

Lavender, which is planted on 1250 decares in order to bring the barren areas into agriculture, contributes both to the economy of the producers and to the tourism of the city. During the 3 weeks when the plant blooms, a visual feast is experienced in the fields that resemble a photo studio. Citizens visiting the fields take pictures in the decors set up by the producers. Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Ahmet Hacıoğlu told Anadolu Agency (AA) that Tekirdağ is among the first cities that come to mind when lavender is mentioned. Stating that decorations were created from balloons, bicycles, tractors, benches and old wooden doors in the fields for visitors to take pictures, Hacıoğlu said, "Lavender cultivation in the city has increased in recent years. 20 of these fields are open to visitors and are suitable for tourism. After the epidemic, the tourism algorithm has changed. People are turning to tourism types that are intertwined with nature. Lavender fields are just right for this. In the past, people flocked to Burdur and Isparta for lavender, but now people come to lavender fields, which are available all over Thrace, especially in Tekirdağ. The aromatic scent left by the lavender fields and the extraordinary natural beauty it offers are a feast for people." Hacıoğlu stated that being close to Istanbul gives Tekirdağ an advantage in terms of tourism. Tuğba Kurt, one of the citizens who visited the field, said that she came from Kocaeli to see the beauty of the lavender fields. Kurt stated that everyone should come and see the purple fields, adding that the field is a wonderful place intertwined with nature, like paradise. Elif Kaplan, who took pictures in the field, also stated that she comes to the lavender field every year and said, "I bring my guests here. This is the first place we stop by. This place is like a therapy to everyone. We are happy that there are such places in Thrace. I hope the number of fields will increase."
