Lycian Waterway Walk and Patara Nomadic Migration in Kaş Haber

Lycian Waterway Walk and Patara Nomadic Migration in Kaş

Traditional Lycian Waterway Walk and Patara Nomadic Migration event was held in Antalya's Kaş district. About a thousand people participated in the 8-kilometer walk, which included members of Yörük associations and local and foreign tourists. The Yörük Migration was revived during the walk on the road that brought water from the Islamlar District to the historical Patara Ancient City. The march, which started near the Delik Kemer Mevkii and where the Yörük associations were present in their local clothes, accompanied the drum and zurna team with their music. While the walking group passed through high, narrow valleys and slopes, there were horses, donkeys and camels in front of the road. During the break, the Lycian Yoruks Patara team performed a folk dance show. Afterwards, the march was completed when the group reached Patara Village Square. In his speech, Kaş Mayor Mutlu Ulutaş said that they are trying to keep the past civilizations alive in the region within the framework of the event. “We keep our traditions alive” Emphasizing the importance of keeping the values of humanity alive and carrying them to the future, President Mutlu Ulutaş said, “In this sense, we both protect our past and keep our traditions, customs and traditions alive. If this memory is told today, our future generations will own it and we will continue to keep this culture alive. As the local government, we always support such events. We will continue this event, which could not be held in the past few years due to the pandemic, in the coming years.” President Ulutaş reminded that they held the Yörük Migration event in the Yeşil Barak District on the Gömbe plateau last year, and said: “Together with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the West Antalya Development Agency (BAKA), we, as a municipality, are engaged in a work of culture and art in terms of both protecting our traditions, customs and traditions and keeping them alive. “We will start weaving the Barak rug” There is a rug woven in Green Barak, the Barak Rug. Weaving is not done much anymore, we started a project to keep it alive and we have reached a certain stage in this regard. We restored the old school in Sahil Barak, prepared the weaving looms there and the work will begin. Hopefully, we will start weaving this rug in the coming days. We are creating areas in Kaş and Kalkan for the purpose of exhibiting the rug. The exhibition area in Kalkan will come to life in the coming days. Our citizens will be able to exhibit and market their handmade products here free of charge, and we will use this area as a promotional center, so we protect our culture and civilization and we will continue to do so.” “We continue our services” Stating that they continue their services all over Kaş, Mayor Ulutaş said, “We have started street improvement work in Patara and this will continue. Patara Bridge was built between Kaş-Ova and Seydikemer-Kumluova. We will open as soon as possible. In our bicycle walking, running and vehicle road project that connects Xanthos, Letoon and Patara, the 5 kilometer stage is about to be completed. In other words, we continue our culture, art and services at the same time."
