Ministry approved: New ski center is coming

In the Çambaşı Plateau, situated at an altitude of 2,000 meters in the Kabadüz district of Ordu, the Çambaşı Ski Center, which has drawn attention as Turkey's closest ski resort to the sea, has been built on a 630-acre area. Following the Çambaşı Ski Center, Ordu Metropolitan Municipality has initiated work for the establishment of a second ski center in the city. As part of this initiative, an examination was conducted by technical personnel from the Youth and Sports Ministry's Directorate General for Investments and Enterprises on Göndeliç mountain, which is the highest summit in Ordu, located between the Kabadüz and Mesudiye districts at an altitude of 2,730 meters. During the assessments, a positive opinion was given for the Ski and Chairlift Project for Göndeliç mountain. "THERE IS AT LEAST A THOUSAND HECTARES OF SKIABLE AREA." The passage discusses the suitability of the region for a ski center and chairlift, stating: "The report includes the opinion that the region is suitable for a ski center and chairlift, stating, 'Ordu province is geographically located at the highest summit of the Ordu province with an altitude of 2,730 meters extending to the western end of the Eastern Black Sea Mountains in the Middle Black Sea. The requested Göndeliç mountain, which is in continuation of Ordu and Çambaşı Ski Center, is located 10 kilometers away. Due to the current state of Çambaşı Ski Center being unable to meet the tourism demand, and its elevation of 2,000 meters resulting in a limited winter sports season, the area of Göndeliç Dağı, which exceeds 5,000 hectares, its altitude exceeding 2,700 meters, and the elevation difference ranging between 200 meters and 800 meters, indicates that there is at least a thousand hectares of skiable area. The projected length of the slopes is between 100 meters and 4,000 meters. With a distance of 65 kilometers to the city center and 85 kilometers to the airport, and considering the suitability of the terrain for winter tourism and winter sports, we find it appropriate to build a comprehensive ski facility on Göndeliç mountain.' "A SKI SLOPE WITH A LENGTH OF 120 KILOMETERS WILL BE ESTABLISHED." After receiving a 'positive' report from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Metropolitan Municipality has prepared a project for the establishment of a second ski center on Göndeliç mountain. As part of the project aimed at competing with leading ski resorts like Uludağ and Palandöken, a total of 120 kilometers of slopes will be built on the snow-covered area over a period of 5 months. The project, planned with a daily capacity of 70,000 people, includes tourist facilities and hotels. The facility, which will be established on a 4,000-hectare area, will have 9 different mechanical facilities.
