The 2,000-year-old Roman Bath is open to visitors

The landscaping works started with the aim of opening the Basilica Therma Roman Bath, also known as the "King's Daughter", which is located in the Sarıkaya district of Yozgat and whose history dates back 2,000 years, has come to an end. The Basilica Therma Roman Bath was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in 2018, preserving its architectural features. In May of last year, environmental planning studies were initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums, in order to bring the bath to tourism and to open it to visitors, and these works have reached the final stage. Only two examples in the world, one in Baht city of England and the other in Sarıkaya district of Yozgat and which is accepted as the oldest thermal treatment center in the world by scientific circles, the Roman Period Basilica Therma Roman Bath will open its doors to its visitors on 15 August. Within the framework of the project, a tourist welcome center, promenades, photo shooting areas, cafeteria and souvenir sales areas will be built. Saying that the historical Roman Bath is an important cultural heritage of the region, Yozgat Governor Ziya Polat stated that the work on landscaping is nearing an end. Governor Polat said, “When we say the middle of history, the Roman Bath in our Sarıkaya district comes to mind. As it is known, the tender and project of the landscaping work of the Roman Bath was made. Hopefully, we aim to take delivery from the contractor company on August 15 and bring it to tourism. The works have reached the final stage. We think that it will add added value to Sarıkaya, Yozgat and our country with its visitor welcome center, place where local products will be sold, cafeterias, walking and photographing areas. I hope all history lovers and nature lovers will come to Yozgat."
