Russian tour operator Vedi Group announces bankruptcy

The worldwide economic crisis causes giant companies to go bankrupt. The series of bankruptcies that started with the coronavirus pandemic, which has affected the world in the past years, does not end. The bankruptcy of the companies, which almost peaked with the Ukraine-Russia war, caused uneasiness on a global scale. The latest bankruptcy news came from the tourism giant. There is something sad about this news. It was the bankruptcy of the company that brought many tourists to Turkey. Russian tour operator Vedi Group, which works with many destinations, especially in Europe, announced that it has terminated its activities due to the impossibility of fulfilling its obligations under tour sales contracts. In the statement made on the official website of the tour operator, it was reminded that Vedi Group has been providing high quality and reliable tourism services professionally for more than 21 years. Unfortunately, the pandemic and the subsequent end of communication with European Union countries, the sanctions of unfriendly countries, the huge problems in payments in foreign currency and the increase in the exchange rate made it impossible for us to continue the fight. The tour operator apologized to all tourists, colleagues and partners who used its services, while promising that it will continue to work until all formalities related to the payment of debts are completed. According to the news in Gazetem.ru, according to the Russian Association of Tour Operators (ATOR), 6 out of 600 of the total number of customers of Vedi Group, which sold tours to 1315 tourists during the period when the activities were stopped, consisted of tourists who could not use their tours due to COVID-19. While all planned tours to countries where flights are not made due to sanctions and a special military operation in Ukraine were canceled, it was stated that these countries include Czechia, Hungary, Malta, France and Italy. The total debt of the tour operator, including arrivals in July-August-September this year, is more than 80 million rubles, while the debt due to the COVID-19 epidemic is estimated at 54 million rubles.
