The occupancy rate of hotels in Safranbolu reached 80 percent Haber

The occupancy rate of hotels in Safranbolu reached 80 percent

Preparations for the midterm holiday have been completed in the historical district, which includes inns, baths, mosques, fountains and bridges preserved in their original form from the Ottoman period to the present, as well as traditional houses built in the 18-20 centuries, generally three-storey, 6-8 rooms, designed and aesthetically shaped to suit the needs. In the district, which is among the "20 best protected cities in the world", the mansions that were restored and converted into boutique hotels were preferred by visitors, and the occupancy rate in the hotels before the mid-term break reached 80 percent. "Both the saffron harvest and the mid-term break added dynamism to Safranbolu" Safranbolu Tourism Operators Association President Şebnem Urgancıoğlu Ergüder told the AA reporter that there is tourism activity in the district these days due to the saffron harvest. Stating that an 80 percent occupancy rate has been reached in the facilities due to the mid-term holiday that will start tomorrow, Ergüder said, "This month, we are faced with the movement of the Chinese region in the Far East market. The movement started from there. Therefore, we expect significant activity in both the domestic and foreign markets during the break. This movement actually almost did not decrease due to the influence of the saffron harvest. "We will see this intensity together in the coming days." Ergüder stated that harvests have become very popular in terms of tourism diversity in recent years and expressed the following opinions: "We see how much added value we have created with the Saffron Festival, which we organized for the seventh time this year. We host guests from different countries for the saffron harvest. Saffron harvest is very valuable for foreigners both in mass tourism and in the individual market. Therefore, the saffron harvest period is a great added value for us. In the past, our season used to end around the end of October, but now the saffron harvest continues and the mid-term break has added dynamism to Safranbolu. "As we will host Far Eastern groups in the winter with the opening of the Chinese market, it will be a tourism movement that we will spread over 12 months in Safranbolu."

The number of tourists increased by 290 percent in Safranbolu

While approximately 325 thousand people visited the Safranbolu district of Karabük, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, in the first 6 months of this year, there was a 290 percent increase in the number of foreign tourists compared to last year. Described as the "fingerprint of the Ottomans" as it reflects Ottoman architecture, city life and culture, Safranbolu continues to attract the attention of local and foreign tourists. Resembling an open-air museum with its inns, baths, mansions, fountains, mosques and bridges, 325,000 tourists stayed in the district in the first 6 months. Mostly preferred by Far Easterners, 272 thousand 636 local and 52 thousand 364 foreign tourists stayed in the city. Safranbolu, also called the "capital of protection", takes its guests on a journey through history with its houses and cobblestone pavements built in the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries. Şebnem Urgancıoğlu Ergüder, President of Safranbolu Tourism Operators Association (SAFTID), stated that after the pandemic, in the first six months of the year, there were positive developments in terms of foreign tourists in Safranbolu. Expressing that there has been a 290 percent increase in foreign visitors compared to last year, Ergüder said, “This shows that we have started to go back to the pre-pandemic period. Although there is not a huge increase in the number of domestic tourists, it is still a pleasure to see an upward trend.” Ergüder stated that Safranbolu was the apple of the eye of the Far East market, as it was before the pandemic; “As Safranbolu, we mostly host visitors from the Far East market, but we continue to welcome visitors from all over the world, from America, Japan, Malaysia, Italy, from all over the world.” Ergüder said that as an association, they continue their promotional activities by working on the right markets for Safranbolu.

150 thousand visitors at Safranbolu during the Ramadan Haber

150 thousand visitors at Safranbolu during the Ramadan

The Safranbolu district of Karabük, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, hosted 150 thousand local and foreign tourists during the Ramadan Feast. The historical district, which resembles an open-air museum with its inns, baths, mosques, fountains, mansions and bridges from the Ottoman period, spent the 3-day Ramadan Feast holiday to the fullest. Known with titles such as "The city that protects itself", "Ottoman's fingerprint", "The capital of protection", Safranbolu took its visitors on a historical journey with its cobbled streets. In Safranbolu, which is also on the UNESCO World Heritage List on an urban scale in Turkey, the hotels were full and the shopkeepers in the Historical Bazaar were satisfied with the occupancy. Şebnem Urgancıoğlu Ergüder, President of Safranbolu Tourism Operators Association (SAFTID), stated that they had a nice holiday. Stating that the holiday was quite busy, Ergüder said, "We think that we hosted over 150 thousand guests. It was possible to understand this from the traffic density anyway. The fact that it coincided with the mid-term holiday, that the new season has not yet started, and that Safranbolu is very beautiful in the spring, has a great effect on this. We have been informed that our tradesmen are doing a very good job and that our hotels are full." "Everyone should see Safranbolu" Expressing that they are happy to open the season like this, Ergüder said, "Actually, the season never ends in Safranbolu. The season continues for 12 months. But the season drops and rises again. Now we are very happy to have entered the high season with this motivation again. Of course, we are pleased to host many guests and we are very happy to share our history with everyone. I would like to remind those who haven't seen it yet to visit Safranbolu, and that it is the only city in Turkey that is on the UNESCO World Heritage List to be protected on an urban scale, and that's why everyone should see it." Emphasizing that Safranbolu will also have a busy weekend on May 1, Ergüder said: "Long weekends have always been good for Safranbolu. Likewise, being in the spring, our best time, also increases our expectations. However, we think that after 19 May and the presidental election that followed, it will be even more intense. Of course on the election weekend it will normally drop a bit. But, we believe it will be crowded and busy again after that."
