The National Tennis Tournament has begun in Bolu

The national tennis tournament, jointly organized by the Turkish Tennis Federation, the Bolu Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, and the Abant Tennis Ski Sports Club, has begun in Bolu. The tournament features 72 male and 39 female athletes aged 13 and above from various provinces including Cyprus, Tekirdağ, Mersin, Kocaeli, Muğla, Istanbul, Samsun, Düzce, Bursa, Antalya, Ankara, Eskişehir, Sinop, Malatya, Mardin, İzmir, Siirt, Kütahya, Şanlıurfa, Zonguldak, Sakarya, and Bolu. Emrullah Güler, the Provincial Director of Youth and Sports, stated that with the support of the Bolu Governorship, the sports infrastructure has been strengthened and significant efforts have been made to promote sports at the grassroots level. He emphasized their efforts to make Bolu an important center for tennis and wished success to all participating athletes. Ahmet Ulusoy, President of the Abant Tennis Ski Sports Club, highlighted the significant progress Bolu has made in tennis since 1999. He noted that Bolu is well-represented on the national stage and thanked all the athletes, coaches, and contributors participating in the tournament. ITF World Tennis Masters Tour Championship starts in Antalya

Cengiz Durmuş, President of the Turkish Tennis Federation, said that they are happy to host the ITF World Tennis Masters Tour World Championship and said, “We are a federation that plans to make every event a profit for our country. We are also working to be the best in the world.” The most prestigious tournament of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) senior calendar, the ITF World Tennis Masters Tour World Championship will be held in Antalya Manavgat between 19 March-1 April 2023. In the tournament, where athletes from all over the world come to Antalya to represent their country in 5 different age categories between the ages of 30-50, 163 teams and approximately 1,200 athletes from 37 countries will compete. Before the championship, which will start tomorrow, an opening ceremony was held with the participation of all teams. Cengiz Durmuş, President of the Turkish Tennis Federation, who made a statement to the members of the press here, said, “We started to make preparations with the excitement of the World Team Championship and Individual Championship being held in our country. Of course, first of all, we are very sorry for the disaster we experienced in the past days, our condolences. But since we also know the healing power of sports, it is one of the tournaments in which we plan to continue our activities and host every athlete from the world in our country and then send them as our representatives. It is a period in which 163 teams from 37 countries participated in a tournament that will last 10 days, in which approximately 1,200 athletes and 2 thousand people together with their relatives were hosted. Of course, I can say that the development of tennis is very meaningful for us and for our country, the meeting of the board of directors of the International Tennis Federation here is important in terms of morale for us after these unfortunate events in our country, and that Turkey is a country of tennis. We also believe that we are the country that can train the best athletes of the world in the future where we hold the world championships in order to bring sports and tennis to the best place.
