The number of foreign tourists increased by 37 percent this year

Compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of foreign tourists increased by 37 percent. Turkey hosted 3 million 876 thousand 381 foreign visitors in the first two months of 2023. The rate of increase in the two-month period was 37.31 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. According to the data of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Russian Federation became the country that sent the most visitors to our country in the January-February period with an increase of 105.99 percent. Bulgaria took the second place with an increase of 33.19 percent, and Germany took the third place with an increase of 24.6 percent. Iran and Georgia were also among the countries sending the most visitors to Turkey. In the first two months, 507 thousand 513 people from Russia, 318 thousand 11 people from Bulgaria and 288 thousand 124 people from Germany were hosted. The ranking did not change in February either In February, 1 million 870 thousand 414 foreign visitors came to Turkey with an increase of 21.35 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. While the Russian Federation ranked first in the list of countries sending the most visitors in February, with an increase of 103 percent and 227 thousand 965 people, Bulgaria ranked second with an increase of 17.14 percent and 150 thousand 873 people, and Germany ranked third with an increase of 15.16 percent and 148 thousand 169 people. Germany was followed by Iran and Georgia.
